Coronavirus & Parish Updates

An Update From Fr. Paul - March 16, 2020

St. Pius X Parishioners,

In response to the new directive from the CDC that limits public gatherings to 50, Archbishop Listecki has suspended the public celebration of Masses through April 3rd in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.  This includes both Sunday and weekday Masses.  Our last public Mass will be Wednesday, March 18th at 8:00 am in the Chapel. We will post the readings, petitions, and homily for this weekend on our website, and in the future we will have a video of the Sunday  Mass each Saturday afternoon by 5:15 pm.  You are invited to follow along.

The Archbishop stated: “This is a big decision and I don’t make it lightly.  As Catholics, the Eucharist is the source and summit of our lives.  In times of public crisis, people naturally turn to the Church for spiritual direction, and we need to continue to do whatever we can to support people through prayer.  However, taking precautionary measures is a prudent course of action.”

All non-essential Parish gatherings will also be canceled during this time:

  • All Religious Education classes and events
  • The Reconciliation Service planned for Tuesday, March 24th
  • The SDS Lenten Vespers Services on Wednesday, March 18th and Tuesday, March 31st

A few other important items to take note of:

  • The Super Seniors St. Patrick’s Day event is still on for Tuesday, March 17th.
  • The parish office will remain open during this time.  The hours are Monday – Thursday from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm and Friday from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon.
  • Scrip will be available in the parish office.
  • If you have completed a paper copy of the Disciple Maker Index survey, please return it to the parish office by Monday, March 23rd.  If you need a paper version, copies are available in the parish office.  It is also still available online at www.disciplemakerindex.com.
  • A list of scheduled Mass intentions through April 3rd is included after this letter.  If you would like to reschedule one or more, please contact Terese (414-453-3875 x13 or tneureuther@stpiusparish.org) in the parish office.
  • Confession will still be available on Saturday’s from 4:00 – 4:30 in the Reconciliation room in the Chapel.
  • Since our Reconciliation Service on March 24th has been canceled, please take advantage of the Archdiocese’s “12 Hours of Reconciliation” taking place on April 1st.  For more information visit: www.archmil.org/Parishes/Event-Calendar/12-Hours-Reconciliation.htm.
  • The Archdiocese has Mass available on the radio and television.
    • Radio: Sunday at 9:00 am on Radio 920 AM W.O.L.F.
    • Television: Sunday at 7:00 and 9:00 am on WVTV, My24 and at 5:30 am on WITI Fox 6

Archbishop Listecki asks that we pray for each other during this time and to also ask Mary Help of Christians to intercede on our behalf.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.  I am always available for any sacramental needs.

Thank you and God bless,

Paul James Portland, SDS
