Additional Volunteer Opportunities

St. Pius X Parish offers many wonderful opportunities to volunteer!  These services not only help the parish, but the community as well.  Please consider donating your time to one or more of these opportunities.

Building & Grounds Committee

This committee concerns itself with the physical appearance and maintenance of all parish facilities and plant equipment. The committee members identify needs and make recommendations to the Finance Council. Throughout the year, there are also opportunities to assist on various routine projects from basic cleanup to projects where skilled labor (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.) is helpful.

Volunteers are needed for:
  • Church Caretakers
    • Help with seasonal cleaning of our church
    • Dates will be announced in the bulletin
  • Garden Angels
    • Help to beautify our parish grounds by cleaning up in spring and fall, and planting and maintaining in the summer
  • ​All Parish Work Day 
    • Help with maintenance work around the parish
    • Date will be announced in the bulletin

  • Skilled Workers
    • Join the list of skilled workers willing to volunteer your services on an as needed basis
  • Joining the committee and meeting once every other month

Community Life Commission

The Community Life Commission (CLC) acts as the social arm of St. Pius X Parish with the mission to form lasting relationships in our community. Events sponsored by the CLC build community spirit by bringing ALL parish members together for social interaction and fun.

Volunteers are needed for:
  • Joining the commission and attending one meeting a month
  • Pancake breakfasts
    • Set up, decorations, food preparation, ticket sales and clean up
  • Fellowship
    • Occasional set up, welcome parishioners and clean up
  • Grass Mass
    • Set up and cleanup for picnic, ticket sales and food service
  • Help for occasional special events

Health Ministry

Health Ministry serves the parish by offering education related to our mind, body, and spirit. Connections are made to community resources. We reach out to parishioners who are in the hospital, sick, homebound, or who have lost a family member with cards and calls.  Meetings are held once a month.

Justice & Peace Commission

The Justice and Peace Commission responds to the Gospel message, moving beyond our parish family to the larger world.

Volunteers are needed for:
  • Joining the Justice and Peace Commission and attending one meeting a month
  • Repairers of the Breach
    • Donating items
  • Tosa Food Pantry
    • Donating and delivering food to the food pantry
  • ERAS Senior Network
    • Regularly call or visit elderly in the area, providing needed transportation and minimal household help
  • St. Vincent de Paul meal programs
    • Making or donating specific food once a month, serving at the meal site once a month
  • Assisting commission members on specific projects

Parish Office Support

Volunteers are needed to answer the phone and greet visitors in the mornings and/or afternoons.

Typical Commitment:
  • One morning (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) or afternoon (12:00 – 3:00 pm) a week
    • Times may vary depending on your schedule
  • Be on a substitute list for when a regular can't make it

Personnel Committee

The Personnel Committee is responsible for the development of personnel policies governing all parish employees. It also monitors the implementation and administration of these policies and any policy updates/changes recommended by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. The committee makes recommendations pertaining to compensation scales and benefits for employees.

Meetings are held 3 - 4 times a year.

Stewardship Commission

The Stewardship Commission is responsible for promoting awareness and understanding of stewardship as a way of life and managing programs focused on the stewardship of time, talent and treasure.

Volunteers are needed for:
  • Joining the commission and attending one meeting a month
  • Writing an occasional article for our parish newsletter
  • Welcoming newcomers by phone or a visit
  • Coordinating planned giving
