Prayer and worship volunteers assist the priest in overseeing the worship of our parish community. Representatives from the lectors, Eucharistic ministers, ministers of hospitality, worship environment subcommittee, music groups and other interested parishioners plan the major season of the church year and then implement their plans.
If you are interested in becoming involved, please contact the parish office at 414-453-3875 x13 or [email protected] unless otherwise noted.
Acolyte Ministry
Our acolyte ministry is open to children in 3rd grade and above, young adults and families. As an acolyte you serve the congregation by helping set up and take down for Mass, carrying the cross and candles in procession and assisting at the Lord’s table with the water and wine. Adult acolytes are needed for funerals and weekday liturgies.
You will be scheduled to help according to your availability, normally 1 - 2 times per month.
Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers are privileged to distribute consecrated bread and wine at Sunday and Holy Day liturgies and to provide assistance for special liturgies. Training is provided.
Lectors
Lectors accept the privileged role of proclaiming the word to God's people. They prepare readings prayerfully and practice public speaking to encourage the congregation to listen, understand and reflect the joy and hope of God's word. Lectors read at Sunday and Holy Day liturgies.
The typical commitment is 2 - 3 times in a 4 month period, but you are scheduled based on your availability.
Linen Ministry
Workers are needed to help with washing linens.
You will be scheduled based on your availability.
Liturgy Commission
Members of this group assist in planning and implementing plans for the liturgical seasons and celebrations in our parish. The commission oversees all of the liturgical groups within the parish. Anyone with an interest in helping to enhance our liturgical celebrations is welcome.
Meetings take place 6 - 7 times a year.
Ministers of Care
Ministers of Care are Eucharistic Ministers who distribute communion and visit the sick and home-bound of our parish.
Visits are planned around your schedule.
Ministers of Hospitality
Women, men, youth, and families who serve as Ministers of Hospitality greet, seat, and care for people attending services at St. Pius X. Their duties for worship include the distribution of song books and worship aids, taking the collection, presenting the gifts, directing the communion procession, distributing bulletins and picking up debris and lost and found items after Mass. Ministers of Hospitality are scheduled, usually no more than once a month. They are asked to arrive 15 minutes early and stay after Mass until all their tasks are complete.
Prayer Network
Members in our Prayer Network pray for special requests and must have an email address. Join to pray for others, or ask for prayers (you don't need to join).
Worship Environment
The enhancement of the liturgical environment is the aim of this ministry. Help is needed with planning the seasonal worship environment, sewing, floral arranging, graphic design, and setting up the seasonal worship environment. We are also looking for someone to chair or co-chair this group. Members meet on an “as needed” basis to plan and then execute their plans prior to each liturgical season. Extra help is also needed with moving heavier items at Christmas time and Easter.
