Volunteers Needed: HUnger Task Force - October 28, 2017

The Parish Collaborative is sponsoring a volunteer event on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 9 AM to 12 PM

Building Senior Stock boxes—Is a fun, fast-paced, team building activity

The boxes you will be building are nutritious boxes of food that Hunger Task Force then delivers to low-income seniors free of charge. Each box contains 16 healthy items including rice, cereal, juice, beef stew, pasta and vegetables. Every month Hunger Task Force delivers nearly 10,000 boxes to seniors, helping them stretch their budgets. The boxes are built by hand by 15-20 person volunteer groups each month; 12 months a year at Hunger Task Force’s south warehouse located at 300 E. College Ave.

Requirements;

• Most volunteers should be able to lift 30 pounds
• Volunteers must be able to stoop, bend and be on their feet for the 3-hour shift time (we usually take a short break mid way)
• Volunteers will be filling boxes of basic needs food, moving them along a roller belt and lifting them onto a pallet
• There are carts available to put the cases of food on to fill the boxes
• This volunteer opportunity is a busy team building volunteer activity
