Letter from Fr. Paul - May 14, 2017
Congratulations to our youth who will be confirmed Monday evening. May you always allow the Spirit to guide you!
Thank you to the children who are participating in our May Crowning at the 10:15 Mass this Sunday! You help us honor Mary, our Mother, on this special day.
The Wauwatosa Plan Commission, by a unanimous vote, passed the request from the Wisconsin Lutheran Synod for a Conditional Use Permit for our school building to the Common Council for its May 16th meeting. If you support this, please let your alders know.
Sometimes there is a scripture quote that is very familiar and we don’t think about it too much. This weekend we have one of those when Jesus says: I am the way and the truth and the life.
The WAY: I was introduced to a GPS (which spoke Italian!) when I lived in Rome. It was a God-send. Most streets do not go straight, streets change names every couple blocks, and there are very few road signs. The GPS showed me the way, opening up possibilities to me and saving me much time and angst. Jesus is our WAY, our “GPS.” He helps us sift through possibilities, to know how it is that we are to go through life if we want to be truly happy.
The TRUTH: in our world of alternate facts, anything goes on Facebook/social media, and outright lies, it can be difficult to know exactly what is true. Jesus tells us the truth: if we listen to Him, we will know what it is that we are to believe, how we are to act, what is the true WAY.
The LIFE: finally, not only do the WAY and the TRUTH help us in this life, they also promise us eternal life, that death is not the end, that we will spend eternity in joy with the Lord.
Ideally, our first experience of being led by the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE is through our parents. Let us pray in a special way for our mothers today, thanking God for leading us through them and asking His blessings on all mothers.
