Caring for Our COmmon Home: Refuse Plastic Bags

So....what do you plan to do with those plastic bags you get at the end of your shopping trip? Or all those plastic bags you've already accumulated at home? Maybe it's time to begin to REFUSE them. Instead of automatically accepting plastic bags, you can begin your shopping trip before you leave home and make sure you have reusable bags in your car. By bringing your own bags you've reduced the amount of plastic that can't be absorbed by our environment.

On April 2, following 10:15 mass, the Justice & Peace Commission will be airing the movie "Bag It." It helps us to understand the environmental concerns relating to plastic, not only the local impact from bags, but the damage around the world, including harm caused to birds and marine animals as well as the potential links to human health. This award-winning 74 minute movie is sure to open your eyes. In the meantime, see what you can do about refusing those plastic bags.
