SAVE THE DATE: Silas Henderson SDS will present Exploring the Mass in four sessions on Thursday evenings at 7 pm (October 26, November 2, 9, and 16) in the rectory living room. All are welcome! Wauwatosa Catholic is in full swing and both Religious Education for Children and Tosa Trio Youth Ministry are revving up. Please be supportive of appeals for help and keep these ministries to our children in your prayers.
This weekend with our Grass Mass we will be celebrating 65 years of St. Pius X. Thousands of people have worshiped here, finding spiritual nourishment and programs to strengthen their Faith. How many sacraments have been celebrated and how many lives celebrated as people have left this world for the next! The long tradition of our school, reflected in the pictures of graduating classes still found in the hallways near the cafeteria, continues in Wauwatosa Catholic. How many people have been helped, both here and in other parts of the world, and how many people have felt welcomed and accepted because of the social justice sensitivities of this community! We have much to be thankful for. But an anniversary is not only about remembering the past with a sense of gratitude to God for blessings received; it is also about rededicating ourselves to future commitment and service. At our Grass Mass those involved in ministries will be blessed and all of us will rededicate ourselves to be disciples, to bring the goodness and kindness of Christ to others. In the weeks to come we will be talking about ministry opportunities here at Pius, leading up to our Ministry Fair the weekend of September 30/October 1. The Pastoral Council has prepared a list of opportunities for involvement, including the commitment involved and contact information. It will be in the pews the week before the Ministry Fair to give you a chance to study it. It can also be found on the home page of our web site under “BECOME INVOLVED IN OUR COMMUNITY.” Our hope is that, after the Ministry Fair, each community member will be involved in at least one ministry of the parish. Disciples give to others from all the blessings they have received. Please keep this effort in your prayers. -- Paul James Portland, SDS Comments are closed.
