No ZOOM meetings today. How will I cope? The school board meeting went well; I am pleased with how things are going at the school. Please continue to pray for our staff and students.
Don’t forget to call the parish office (414-453-3875) to register for Mass this weekend if you plan on attending. Have a good day and stay safe. Last night the Justice and Peace Commission welcomed Ashley Thomas, the Executive Director of Hope Street Ministry, to its ZOOM meeting. It was inspiring to hear the support and hope that is given to vulnerable individuals and families by creating a supportive community. In the future, the commission hopes to present volunteer opportunities with this organization and/or the organization that spoke to them last month, Mackenna Brown’s Homeless Sanctuary. I thank them for their dedication to serving the most vulnerable.
The Wauwatosa Catholic School Board meets by ZOOM this evening. Please keep them in your prayers. Today we celebrate the apostles Simon and Jude. Let us ask the apostles to help us grow in our ability to bring the Good News to the world as they did. Have a good day and stay safe. God bless. Sr. Carol’s funeral at the Layton Blvd. Franciscan sisters’ motherhouse went well. As I was the only person allowed in, most of the family watched the live streaming in the Francis Jordan room at Pius. At the cemetery, the family had a viewing before the prayer service, since they had not had an opportunity before that. I was reflecting how Covid-19 has upended practically everything we do!
The Parish leadership Team meets this morning and Justice and Peace this evening. Please keep both of these meetings in your prayers. Have a good day and be safe. God bless. I hope you had a good and safe weekend.
At 11:00 am today I will celebrate the Mass of the Resurrection for long time parishioner Sr. Carol Grandlich, SSSF. It will take place at the sisters’ chapel on Layton Blvd, but will be livestreamed at https://video.ibm.com/channel/school-sisters-of-st-francis. Please join us, if you can, and remember Sr. Carol, her family, and her fellow religious sisters in your prayers. Have a good day and be safe. God bless. This weekend I will introduce the 2021 Pledge Drive and next weekend we will have witness talks. The witness talks will also be posted on our website. Please keep the success of this endeavor in your prayers. PACT: Pius Parishioners Always Come Through!
Please remember to call the parish office to register for Mass if you will be attending this weekend. Have a good weekend and stay safe. The next update will be Monday morning. God bless. Last night Cardinal Capital hosted a neighborhood meeting here about the proposed apartments for seniors on the east end of our parking lot. Per the City of Wauwatosa requirements, invitations were sent to those living within a certain radius of the parish.
Over the two nights of meetings, the parishioners and neighbors who attended received the project well. Many complimented Cardinal for a much improved building and project. The next step in this 4-6 month process is to submit an application to the city for the necessary approvals. Please keep the success of this project in your prayers. Have a good day and be safe. God bless. Thank you to the 18 parishioners who came last night to hear more about the proposal to build senior apartments on the east end of our parking lot.
This evening there will be a session for our neighbors. Safety measures for COVID-19 are being followed in all of this. Please keep the success of this project in your prayers. Have a good day and stay safe. God bless. Long time parishioner Sr. Carol Grandlich SSSF passed away last night. Please remember Sr. Carol, her family, and her community (especially Sr. Barbara, who lived with her for many years) in your prayers.
Have a good day and stay safe. I hope you had a good and safe weekend.
This morning we are recording the Masses for the next two weekends, in addition to two children’s Masses for Wauwatosa Catholic, since our schedules did not work out for recording next week. This evening the Stewardship Commission meets to finalize the materials for the pledge drive, which will be mailed out the beginning of next week. I will introduce the pledge drive this weekend and witness talks will follow the next weekend. Please keep the success of the pledge drive in your prayers. Have a good day and be safe. God bless. |
